PearCircle Watcher shows your circle on a map on a Mac, Windows or Linux computer. It only watches. It never shares a location, and it does not show trips.
It is not a member of the circle. Members see it in a separate Watching list under Settings, then Circles, and anyone in the circle can remove it. Everyone in the circle gets a notice when a computer starts watching.
Download the file for your computer from the latest PearCircle release on GitHub.
PearCircleWatcher-<version>-arm64.dmg. Open it and drag PearCircle Watcher into Applications.PearCircleWatcher-Setup-<version>.exe. It installs for your user only and needs no admin rights. Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" because the installer is not signed yet. Click More info, then Run anyway..AppImage runs on any distribution (make it executable, then open it). On Debian or Ubuntu you can install the .deb instead. Use the x86_64 / amd64 files on most PCs and aarch64 / arm64 on ARM machines such as a Raspberry Pi.The computer shows as waiting until a member's phone with PearCircle open adds it. That happens on its own, usually within a few seconds. Then members' locations appear on the map.
A phone cannot join with a Desktop watcher invite. Use the Person invite for people.
PearCircle Watcher has no window of its own. It runs in the background and shows the map in a browser tab. Opening it again while it runs just reopens that tab.
It closes by itself a minute after you close the last tab, so keep the tab open while you want to watch.
The name members see is your computer's name.
On a phone in the circle, open Settings, then Circles, find the computer under Watching and tap the trash icon.
It stops getting live locations straight away. It can still see places and positions it received before then. To lock it out completely, create a new circle and invite everyone again.
